Gratituesday, Take 2.
This particular Tuesday I am grateful for:
- Being laid off. Because 5 pounds lost from utter stress is 5 pounds less to drag up Hawi & through the Energy Lab.
- The guy with the big-ass dogs who bought my minivan. Because eventually it will stop raining and I will figure out bike-commuting on a bike that thinks it's too good to be locked up anywhere.
- Out on the Weekend by Neil Young.
- Wyatt's wisdom. He may only be six and run around on his tippytoes like tinkerbell and not believe in underwear, but he told me he will hire me at his snack shack and pay me $500/day. And when I said that my shin hurt when I touched it, he wisely told me to stop touching it.
- People Magazine, for telling me that Clay Aiken is gay. Ya think?
- Five easy miles run in the rain in the middle of the afternoon.
These are Wyatt's first steps at nine months old. The kid was smart from day one:
I'm so excited to be first to leave a comment, I can't think of anything good to say! Hi Rachel!
ReplyDeleteErika, you're hilarious. HI ERIKA!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYeah, you sold your van. Yeah you lost weight (not that you really needed to, but I understand the obsessive race weight thing). I gain weight when I'm stressed so you should be really happy you lose it
ReplyDeletehe was on his tippy toes then too, but wearing "underpants". guess he wised up.
ReplyDeletethanks for reminding me to be grateful, cuz i was feeling all bitter today and this is muuuuch better.
: ) cat.
Love this post! Really funny and wise at the same time.
ReplyDeleteYou have just shamed me into doing my darn GratiTuesday. I was going to slack off today in honor of the taper. Shoot.
ReplyDeleteI agree, grateful for Neil (Uncle Neil as I like to refer to him!) You'll be jealous, he's coming to town on Oct. 22!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Kona,
Long (and fast) May You Run!
That kid's full of wisdom. Perhaps he can hire me too. I could work the snack shack for $500 a day!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWyatt sounds like a great boss.
ReplyDeleteI also gain weight when stressed. I hate you people that lose weight when stressed. How could a pint of ice cream not make you feel better? That picture is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteDammm is that child brilliant or what? Then when he learned to walk/run did that mean he was able to fetch a beer from the fridge for ole mom and dad? Cute picture!
ReplyDeletethat picture is priceless. maybe you can exploit your kids as your job and just sell funny photos of them with classic captions!!!
ReplyDeleteyour run in the rain sounds fun. i am GETTING EXCITED FOR YOU!!!1
LOVE it...
ReplyDeleteI am on your island this Tuesday, on the way to Texas :)
Ramsey looks so young!
This Tuesday I am grateful for rehab because Roger and are detoxing from Kona withdrawls.
ReplyDeleteLove it. Gratituesday: my anniversary is today, and I have a great hubby and a wonderful 9 month old daughter (9 months yesterday).
ReplyDeleteI have to laugh at the pic-reminds me of when I brought little Ali to my friend Michelle's party this summer. I am a former army helicopter pilot; she is a CURRENT top gun navy pilot (and cute and a damn good triathlete, I might add!). Ali spent the evening staring at everyone's wine and beer! Michelle finally told me: "I think you have a little budding aviator on your hands. She hasn't quit staring at my glass of wine. You know, an alcoholic with a flying problem?"
I see Wyatt is into the good stuff...the cerveza mexicana!
-Dana
Awww...thats a lot to be greatful for. Your son's comment was priceless...:-))
ReplyDeleteGotta love the kiddies. They keep it simple and pure. Wyatt isn't the only one to walk around on tippie toes. Whenever Nate goes home to frigid Wisconsin and walks across the cold floor, he's always on his tippie toes. :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad the minivan is gone. You're too hot of a mama to be driving that thing...
ReplyDeleteHorray for runs in the rain!
Love your blog!!! keep up the great writing! Jen
ReplyDeleteMy best ironman came after getting layed off.
ReplyDeleteI'll be in Kona - working out again now and recovering from a 2008 washout from injury.
I'm a Chicago guy and would have met you somewhere between Jen and ELF.
Bob
I love gratitude posts. They help us to focus on the positives and forget about the negatives. Like shins that hurt.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!! :D
