No Pressure..

At packet pick-up I found KC, race director and women's coaching star, with a whole new head of hair. She fought ovarian cancer this year and is looking happy and healthy again! And while there I received two things - word that I held the course record (the course changed 3 or 4 years ago..) and the Numero Uno. I told her Bree was coming, but she let me keep the number anyway.

No pressure or anything. I intend to hold onto that 57:10 course record for the next 48 or so hours, until the gun goes off. Because lord knows I can't run an 18 minute 5k off the bike anymore.

While the number one is fun, I did get an equally cool number last year at the marathon, one that came with more innuendo than expectation.

The flu flew by, and I'm ready to roll.. and looking forward to my first race in 5 months!

  1. Oh man, that reminds me I still need to sign up for the race. Hope I still can. I had #69 for the Marine Corps Base tri last year. The young marines were soooo embarrassed to hand me that number. I just smiled and said "Oh this is going to be fun!" See ya tomorrow.

  2. Number 1, THAT IS ALL YOU! I am pretty sure you have the most "rest" in those hot legs of yours and an 18, HOLY crap daddy long legs- I feel the need for speed to keep up! I can hardly wait for this race, I love hanging with the Oahuian girls & am so looking forward to that SHORT swim!

I felt like trash talking, but I have nothing smooooooooth to say..., "watch out", does that sound intimidating!?

AND both those numbers are hilarious...I would have bought ALL my race photos if I ever sported those numbers... OH, actually, one race my number was 808, that was pretty cool!

ood luck, I mean, "watch out!"

  3. Go #1! I'm sure racing #69 got a few comments out on the course...

I got the #777 at nationals last year. Not as lucky as I was hoping for.

  4. Between the Spam shirt and your bib #, you two look like a Mel Brooks movie.
I can't even fathom having a single digit on a bib (or double if I'm being honest), much less the "first" single digit. You're my hero.

  15. Alright number one. I've read the trash talk, and I'm not buying it. Your road rash will definitely give you the distinct advantage as other competitors will likely stop and stare or not want to be near you. Don't worry.. just pedal away fast and furious! Have fun & you're going to have to send me your email address: kimberlysbi@gmail.com. I have something for you, and Bree is not getting back to me with your email or the other one. I like to call her Miss Naughty Pants. Thanks! Go get em!!

  21. You don't have a race report up either. What the heck is going on over there???
It appears as though the record has been taken out, but you broke the hour and beat the next 30-34 by 7 1/2 mins! YOU ROCK!
