It's just me ME me me me me my kids me me me me my running me. I'm sick of reading it. Maybe I'm just sick of me? I do have to listen to me all day. Those of you reading this must be twice as sick of me.
It's been a year of blogging. I put one of them there tracker thingamajiggies on it and I have to say, there are about a thousand more people than I would expect out there reading everyday about my mundane little life. Which (quoting Sky here) totally freaks me out. I mean, I can see if you were a relative or something why you might bother reading my blather. But I don't have a thousand relatives. Well, except in Champaign, IL, where my maiden name takes up a whole page in the phonebook.. but I don't know most of them.
I think perhaps I am having a mid-life blog crisis.
But I'll just continue on, for now, with guess what? A little more about me. I wrote a little story for the April edition of Honolulu Magazine. It's short, and rather brainless, but you know, so is this blog, and you're here reading it, so you might as well read the article while you're at it. It's about Kailua, which isn't me, thus this is kind of a change of subject. If you see Honolulu Magazine, grab it and check it out - I got my first real byline. Any my name is in Timex orange.
chill
ReplyDeleteHaha, I love your blog even though I don't know you! It is always very funny and also interesting!
ReplyDeleteI am proud to say that I was one of the first 10 original readers... and why... because this is better than TV!!!
ReplyDeleteNice story, makes me proud we live like this! Island life, ahhhh....
See, you just think it's boring cause it's your life...those of us who don't even attempt ironmans or don't have kids or live in Hawaii find it all fascinating. Plus you're funny!
ReplyDeleteI keep reading because I think that someday you might just reveal your special secret on how you juggle all the things you do. Even though I know the "secret" isn't really a secret...I just keep hoping you have a nugget of a secret. You're wonder woman!
ReplyDeletelol...Bree is right, this is way better than tv...plus, I don't have cable so what else can I do before heading to bed? lol...I've been reading your blog since I started reading Bree's just over a year ago, and think you have a great humorous writing style...but yeah, I can see how a 'lurker-reader' such as myself may seem creepy...hmmm, so just to let you know, I am relatively new to Triathlon, live in Canada, am 28 and b/c of you and Bree, I finally got myself a Splish suit 'cause ya make them look so great...thanks for all the funny reads, and if I ever get a blog and write half as well as you, I'd be happy to let you lurk too ;o) (oh, and I want to do my first Ironman next year...)
ReplyDeleteI read because of Team Timex. See, I'm not stalking you, but Tim Hola. Plus, I went to school at UIUC. Good luck with training and racing!

Rach... shut up. But not like don't write your blog shut up, just the negative self talk (<--- see what I did there hah!) shut up.
ReplyDeleteAnd fyi, my mom thinks your blog is great! Yep... I totally sent the link to my mom. HI MOM!
please don't stop blogging or i'll have to go and get myself some of those real-life friends. :)
ReplyDeletei mid-life blog crisis is probably better than a regular one
ReplyDeleteI read your blog because it's funny, so keep it up! I have to say though, that a month or so ago, I just learned about blogs and felt kind of like a Peeping Tom reading about the details of your life but I hardly know you. Guess I got over that, because I still read it. Also, I like to see what Wonder Woman is doing for her workouts. For example, one day I did a track workout of 8x400s and they were all under 1:45 and I was pleased with myself. That same day you wrote that you did 16x400 on 1:45 (I'm assuming that included your RI). I also think you accomplished this before I had my coffee that morning. But, since you're in another league, I decided that I was still pleased with my efforts, but also impressed (blown away) with your talent and work ethic.
ReplyDeleteVery nice article. I really enjoyed reading that. I sometimes wonder why, between your blog and Bree's, the triathlete population in the Hawaiian islands has not doubled or tripled by immmigrating triathletes from the mainland and Canada. Hope your work weekend went okay.
ReplyDeleteGreat article Rachel! And congrats on another publication!
ReplyDeleteAs for your blog - I LOVE reading it. But I admit, I think the same thing about mine. Why would anyone (other than my mom) care? :) Either way, I hope you keep writing because I'm always very excited to see when you have a new entry and enjoy each one!
Great article!
ReplyDeleteAnd if it helps at all, I read your blog because a.) I'll never live in Hawaii, and b.) while I'd love to complete Kona some day, it proooobably won't be as fast as you.
In conculsion: my life in boring, and I like to live vicariously through super speedy people living in paradise. :o)
The ordinary life is anything but ordinary. Thank you for sharing your craziness and adventures.
ReplyDeleteHA! Yep I'm one of those 1000 random readers. I love your blog...and as an age grouper triathlete, I appreciate all your stories!
ReplyDeleteWrite on please!!!
I read your blog because 1) I am a triathlete which leads to 2) I like reading about triathlon related things and 3) You are hilarious which makes reading about the triathlon related things you sometimes write about interesting. Quite honestly, you could write about your neighbors' life instead of your own and I'd probably read it (as long as you threw in something tri related here and there) - your writing is very entertaining.
ReplyDeleteatta girl. love the article.
ReplyDelete"enough about me. let's talk about you. what do you think of ME?"
ha ha ... one of my favorite lines.
happy blog birthday.
I adore you and your stupid blog ;)
ReplyDeletep.s. I'm coming over for a visit after school today. It's going to be kind of permanent, so I hope that's okay. It snowed 6 inches in less than 3 hours this morning. I'm moving out of this friggin' igloo. WTF?!?!
a quote I have up on my brainless blog about my mundane life,
ReplyDelete"All human beings, driven as they are at different speeds by the same Furies, are at close range equally extraordinary."
Your life only seems mundane to you, to your faithful readers it's very entertaining ;-) plus you have a real talent for writing amusingly. We implore you, don't stop..
Don't stop writing your blog! I think it's hilarious! You are one of my favorite, I-don't-know-you-at-all people to read! (At least I sort of met Bree at IMFL but she thought I was nuts since I was wearing a Halloween costume) Thanks for the hilarious glimpse into the life of a triathlete-mom-workerbee superstah!
ReplyDeleteI read because I used to live in Hawaii and I wonder what it would be like to work, train and raise a family there.
ReplyDeleteYeah, your blog is funny! That's why people read it. I do kinda wonder myself sometimes...if only such and such people are commenting, who are these other people reading? Some I know but...others, hmmm, lets just hope they are normal nice people :)
ReplyDeleteI feel exactly the same way about my blog. I get sick of myself and I can't imagine why anyone would be interested. But yours is always interesting and funny and real.
ReplyDeleteI also love your stupid blog. What else am I gonna do at work?
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the article.
Hows this for your blog isn't stupid...
ReplyDeleteI've been lurking for awhile (don't usually comment on tri blogs as I'm new to this 'tri' thing but learn sooo much from you...) and after a month long blogging hiatus went onto the lululemon website's blog and looked at ambassadors online and saw names that looked familiar and there you were!!!
Keep writing your blog! Your wit and sense of humor are super inspiring!!
After all that pre-ramble, all I really needed to say was (a belated) welcome to the lululemon family (I work at one of the toronto stores)!!
