Shut up, brain.

Another cruise photo rolls in.. sometime I abuse my little sister Celia.

For those that requested a saddle report: the Selle SMP is going back to where it came from. Bike shop, Satan's workshop, I don't really care as long as it's not within ten feet of my you-know-what. Next up: the Terry polka-dotted one Katherine uses. We have the same lululemon yoga pant addiction, matching swimsuits, and we kind of look alike.. it's a stretch, but I'm hoping what works for her will work for me?

I am over-thinking when I run. Hell, I've been over-thinking since I was eight. But lately, it's out of control when I run. Does my knee hurt? My achilles feels funny.. Is the road slanted? Bobloblaw..  So I cleared Shufflupigus and the 150 songs that were boring me into a coma and started from scratch. Whether you're looking for new music or just want to make fun of my dorky taste in music.. here's some of the return to running soundtrack:

E-pro – Beck
Viva la vida - Coldplay
Electric blue – Icehouse
Dare – Gorillaz
If she knew what she wants - Bangles (thanks, Erika)
Take you there – G Love
Shadow stabbing – Cake
Paradise city – GnR
Rapper’s delight – Sugar Hill Gang
Sit Down – james
Mood for a melody – Robert plant
Ode to a Butterfly – Nickel Creek
Cannonball – Breeders
Feel the Pain – Dino Jr.
Second Hand News – Fleetwood Mac
Move Along – AAR – (the song that makes me think of Kona the most.)

Kona L, CY, Bruce, thank you for the kind comments. It's great to hear that even people who aren't related to me enjoy reading as I blather on...

  3. That Selle SMP is CRAP... I agree.
Mine is banging around in the B0X-O-CRAP drawer in the garage.
Did you consider the Specialized Ruby? Low profile but extremely comfortable. Highly recommend it. I can ride with it wearing a Splish..no problem-o

  4. Oh Rach, saddles are soooo hard to find as we girls know. I just got a new bike from a new sponsor and I LOVE it, but the Adamo doesn't work on it, since the rails are so high, so I am trying the specialized jett. Ouch! But not as bad as the Terry carbon butterfly. Wish we girls had it easier! Let me know what ends up working out.

  5. If I was allowed to wear my lulu's to work I would be one happy camper. Lucky for my bank account, there's no retail store nearby!

For what it's worth, I use the Terry Falcon X Saddle, and I tip the nose down just a touch. I went through at least 5 saddles before I found that one.

  6. so sorry about the saddle woes but i'm with tgp, you need to try a specialized! i hope you find something that works soon.

as for the shuffle list, yeah, you need to keep it hopping! AAR is rain's favourite band so i can say that i know all the words to 'move along', lol so if you ever plan a karaoke night, i'm in!

  7. too funny! I was just thinking the same thing about my shuffle. I'm also gonna start posting what's on mine. I need to get some new tunes.

Have you tried an adamo saddle? they are ugly as all he!!, but I've found mine to work great. I have it slanted down very slightly.

  8. I really overthink my body sometimes too. Does my hamstring hurt worse than yesterday? Is that a twinge in my foot? What's up with my back - I think it's sore on the left! Shutting the brain off is a great idea!! I need a shuffle! :)

Anyway, really, really wish you were coming to Steelhead!! You would love the course! Maybe next year I guess... :)

here's a link although you need to be able to sit on the measuring thingy the stores have to get the right width. Hope your bike shop has this... best of luck.

  11. I spent all last spring wondering if my achilles was hurting when I ran, any little thing would worry me. I think you are just hypersensitive to it right now and you pay attention to any little thing. Hopefully it means all the big pain is gone and you are healed!

  12. Thank goodness you got rid of that saddle, didn't your mom teach you to "judge a saddle by the cover-or looks?" That thing was ridiculous... no way could it feel good to anyone, even if they lacked any private parts at all!

Have fun with the tunes, love the dino Jr- so old school!!

  13. Damn about the saddle! I will keep my fingers crossed for a goos report on the new, new saddle.

    Love the tunes RR!

  14. Yep, same experience with the Selle SMP (if you remember, I received one in the mail the same day you posted about yours).

At this point I am rotating between 3 saddles: the Serfas Tri W, the Adamo Race, and the Blackwell Flow. None of them are perfect, but I find that if I switch frequently enough (every week or so) they don't have enough time to actually create open wounds or permanent numbness. :( Please let me know when you find the magic saddle.

  15. I always just used any old saddle that came along with the (second-hand) bike. One long ride after not riding for a long time was enough to feel comfortable. Maybe you can have a garage sale when I am next in HI and then I won't have to pay a super high price for something carbon with an Italian name. From the photo it looks like I am one of only a few people in the world not related to you. I will listen to some of your music. It's different from what I'm used to or what I've become accustomed to hearing my sons playing. I did not listen much when running - still too many cars in Kailua-Kona.

  16. Ask your LBS if they allow customers to test saddles for a week. We do this in Kona. Customers can take them to test and bring back (as long as they aren't yucked up). They can test until they find the right one for them.

Can you contact me thru email bitte? We've got something going on at the shop I want to tell you about.... Mahalo.

PS: I was thinking that you'd make a great TV/Movie script writer too!
    Really!!!!!

  17. Eeks - sorry about the saddle woes. Not fun!!! And yep, I do the same thing when I run - I am overly sensitive about this and that... I think its because of the injury and such. Hang in there! New music always seems to do it! Enjoy the tunes!!!

  18. Damn saddle issues! I'm still looking, I find one that works for about 1 ride and then NOT! I keep going back to the worn out Serfas I've had for 5 years. So long in fact that the rails are bending and it is consequently too wide and chafes my inner thigh something awful! But at least my 'bits' don't hurt!
My quest is to find a saddle that doesn't hurt my 'bits' or chafe my thighs into hamburger.
Good luck to us in our saddle search.
    Missy
